St Winifred's School

St Winifred's is a small school, on a pleasant, urban road in central Southampton, close to the university. St. Winifred’s is a member of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and the Independent Schools Council (ISC).
The school provides care from 8.00 am until six o'clock for pupils aged three upwards. We aim to provide for the whole child through a varied curriculum, please view our Curriculum pages, with a wide programme of study and opportunities to develop all pupils’ talents. English, Maths and Science, and the development of ICT skills are at the centre of learning.
Pupils are encouraged and helped to develop a disciplined approach to personal study skills and, through cooperative work, an understanding of others’ skills and feelings whilst gaining personal satisfaction and confidence that will help them in later life.
Specialist teachers, in small classes, deliver a structured, academic program, enabling pupils to achieve their potential in a friendly, happy environment. Pupils are prepared both for entrance exams to all the local independent schools as well as the maintained sector, whilst being given the confidence and self-esteem to ensure further achievement at secondary school. Extra-curricular activities provide further opportunities to develop pupils' individual talents, personal strengths and interests.
Monthly Achievement Assemblies foster self-worth by celebrating individual and group interests in and out of school, whilst focusing on pupils’ Endeavour and Courtesy within school. St Winifred’s aims to instil in each pupil good manners, respect for other people and a sense of personal responsibility.
Parents receive regular feedback about pupils' progress. Weekly newsletters are sent, informing parents of events and activities happening in the school. Parents are encouraged to be involved in their children's education wherever possible.
If you would like us to show you our School in action, of for your child to spend a taster day with us, please contact the school office, and have a look around our web-site.
I will be happy to meet you to discuss your child’s future and show you the school in action.
