News and Recent Events
This year’s eventsFireworks Evening Nearly 500 people enjoyed our annual fireworks evening and BBQ. The two displays of fireworks by Selstar Fireworks were even more spectacular than ever. This event takes a year to plan and relies enormously on the support of parents who work in teams. The 15 strong catering team were outstanding in their efforts and provided a fabulous BBQ. The security and car parking team ensured that everyone was safe and could access the site efficiently. My thanks to everyone who helped. Evening at Kuti’s Brasserie The end of November saw us enjoying another evening at Kuti’s Brasserie in Oxford Street, Southampton. We are planning to organise another one early next term. St Winifred's Cream Teas On June 9th we provided our traditional strawberry cream teas at St Winifred’s open day and fete for parents and friends as they watched the pupils perform music and dance displays and enjoy a wide variety of stalls. Annual General Meeting in September The very brief, but necessary, formalities of this will be held at an evening at Kuti's Brasserie, date to be confirmed. Please consider joining us. There is nothing daunting about it; we are just a group of people doing something to help our childrens’ schools. You do not need to give a great deal of time - the old adage of many hands makes light work holds so true. Do join us and give us some fresh ideas to take forward into next year, or just give us a hand with our existing ones. On this note Lynn Black and I have decided not to stand again for our posts next year. So please give some extra thought about whether you could use some of those leadership skills I know are out there to steering the PTFA ever onwards to provide those extras for our children. It can be rewarding and really fun, and not as officious as it sounds. Drop us an email or give me (07818 421380) or Lynn (023 8049 3215/07770 685256) a ring if you have any questions about it………….I promise we will be honest! Purchases It is refreshing when everyone’s hard work pays off and you actually see the benefits to our children. For St Winifred’s School we have funded an assortment of toys and games, gym equipment, PCs, an interactive white board, a digital camera and audio equipment. For the Gregg School we have funded a range of IT equipment, makeup for the Musical, a handheld microphone speaker and 3 heavy duty shelters (mobile so could also be used off site for both schools).
